Shikhar Dhawan, who was India’s best batsman in the recently concluded in 2015 World Cup, has climbed to sixth spot in the ICC ODI Rankings for batsmen issued on March 31st. Virat Kohli, who had a decent tournament with the bat, remained the highest placed Indian batsmen at fourth. Apart from Kohli and Dhawan, skipper MS Dhoni is the other Indian batsmen in the top-10 (at 8th spot). 

Australia’s Steven Smith, who became the first player in the history of World Cup to score five consecutive 50+ scores in a single edition, jumped to 12th position (joint) along with India’s Rohit Sharma and Misbah-ul-Haq. AB de Villiers continued to lead the charts and has also become the second South African after Hashim Amla to break the 900 point mark. 

Among the bowlers, Mitchell Starc surged to the top for the first time (in his career) in the ICC ODI Rankings for bowlers following an outstanding show in the World Cup that also fetched him the player of the tournament award. Starc finished as the joint-leading wicket-taker with New Zealand’s Trent Boult (22 wickets). He currently sits on 783 rating points, which is also his career-best rating. 

Umesh Yadav, who took the most wickets for India in the tournament, has rocketed 16 places to join England spinner James Tredwell at 18th position. 

In the ICC ODI Rankings for teams, Australia retained the ODI shield and won $175,000 after finishing as the number-one ranked side on April 1st (cut-off date). India collected $75,000 for finishing second in the team rankings.
