Shoaib Akhtar Hails Jasprit Bumrah And Mohammed Shami For Their Superb Bowling In New Zealand
Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have maintained their domination with the ball in the ongoing New Zealand tour. Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar praised these Indian pacers, and he feels that the duo has started to scare the opposition batsmen.
The Indian national cricket team is now busy in the international series in New Zealand as they are currently playing the five-match T20I series. Indian team is dominating in this T20I series as they already won the first two T20Is and are leading this series by 2-0 with three to go.
They played the first two games of this T20I series at Eden Park (Auckland) which is a small ground and suits batsmen.
However, in both those matches, the Indian bowlers were very disciplined, especially in the second game.
In the opening match of this T20I series, Indian bowlers restricted the hosts to 203/5 (20 overs), and the visitors chased down that target in 19 overs after losing just four wickets.
In the second game, New Zealand again batted first, but they struggled hugely against the Indian bowlers and managed to score 132/5 (20 overs) which was very hard to defend at Eden Park. India once again won that match easily as they reached the target in 17.3 overs after losing three wickets.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami both threatened the opposition batsmen with their well-directed bouncers – Shoaib Akhtar
Shoaib Akhtar praised both the Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami for their disciplined bowling performances.
The former Pakistan fast bowler said in his YouTube channel, “Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami both bowled short-pitch deliveries and threatened the opposition batsmen with their well-directed bouncers. They both bowled with a great confidence which I never saw in them before.
“In addition to looking to pick wickets, they also looked to instill fear in opposition batsmen’s minds.”
Bumrah just returned to the cricket, and gradually he is finding his old form. In both the matches of this series, Bumrah proved economical and also picked one wicket in each game.
On the other hand, Shami hasn’t taken a wicket in this series yet, but he was also very economical in the last game.
Akhtar lauded the entire Indian team as he called them a ruthless side who dominated in the first two T20Is of the ongoing New Zealand tour.
He claimed, “India is becoming a ruthless team as they once again proved it against New Zealand in the second T20I. What we are seeing in New Zealand is that the hosts have completely surrendered before India in the first couple of T20Is.”
The visitors India are one victory away to win their first-ever T20I series in New Zealand. They will play the next game of this series on this Wednesday (29th January) at Seddon Park (Hamilton).
