Former Pakistan Cricket team fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar recently in a social media interaction revealed the toughest batsmen he has ever bowled to. Meanwhile, with his express pace and attitude, Akhtar carried the legacy of Imran Khan and Wasim Akram. Days after he emerged in the international circuit, it was known that he was in for some career.
Akhtar’s notable performance came during the 1999 Eden Gardens Test. He rattled the timbers of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar beating them with pace and then the World Cup later that year was all but his. He has represented Pakistan in 47 Tests, 163 ODIs and 15 T20Is picking 178, 247 and 19 wickets respectively. Meanwhile, the worst way to assess Shoaib Akhtar would be to do so through his numbers as they have revealed a very little.
Shoaib Akhtar announced his retirement in 2011 playing his last ODI game against New Zealand at Pallekele. Following his retirement, Akhtar has also tried his hand in commentary and was also associated with Pakistan Cricket Board.
However, Akhtar recently took part in a question-answer session on social media Twitter along with his followers. There were questions ranging from various topics – current state of the Pakistan Cricket team to about his thoughts on Shahid Afridi to his inspiration. However, no fans will leave this opportunity to ask one of the fastest bowlers on earth, the toughest batsmen he has bowled.
Meanwhile, Akhtar was quick to respond to the question. He revealed former Windies legend Brian Lara and former Aussie cricketer Adam Gilchrist as the toughest batsmen he has faced. One will be in shock not to see the name of Sachin Tendulkar who has given Shoaib Akhtar many sleepless nights.
