Shoaib Akhtar spices up the verbal duel with Sehwag 1

Shoaib Akhtar spices up the verbal duel with Sehwag: The former Pakistani speed demon, Shoaib Akhtar has hit back at Virender Sehwag by terming him as immature. Akhtar took on the micro-blogging site, Twitter to express his disappointment over the comments made by Sehwag, few days ago. The 40-year-old tweeted, “Very immature statement from a great player like Sehwag. That we praise Indian player for the money.” Though, it is notable that the Pakistani quick went on to delete his tweet as well.

Recently, during an interview with comedian Vikram Sathaye, the swashbuckling Indian opener had expressed his opinion about Shoaib Akhtar and other Pakistan players regarding their commercial interests in India.

The Indian veteran, Sehwag was quoted by Deccan Chronicle saying, “Shoaib Akhtar became a really good friend because he wanted to establish a business in India. That’s why he had to talk good about India so that he could get paid by doing commentary.”

Virender Sehwag is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve. The 104 Test old further added that “Whenever you see Akhtar today, you’ll notice him praising India so much, nobody would even believe him praising India so much in his life. During my time when he used to bowl to me, there was no love lost. Money can do everything.”

After opining his views on Akhtar, Viru said “Nowadays, Pakistani people such as Mohammad Yousuf, Saqlain Mushtaq or Rana, who work in Pakistan TV channels, all want to come to India because they know India is a big market and obviously if you get Rs 1 lakh over here, then its Rs 2 lakh in Pakistan.”

During their playing days, Shoaib Akhtar and Virender Sehwag had a fierce rivalry on the field. Both the players were renowned for their aggressive nature on the field. Whenever they locked horns on the 22 yards, it turned out to be a clash of titans. While Sehwag used to thrash away the bowlers on will, Akhtar had the remarkable ability to send chills down the batters spine with his intimidating pace which was no less than any bullet being shot at the batsmen. Akhtar holds the world record of bowling the fastest delivery in the history of cricket.

Now, it will be interesting to witness how the witty Sehwag responds to Akhtar’s deleted tweet.  It seems we have something exciting on our hands in the days to come. Let’s see where this rivalry between Viru and Akhtar heads to.
