Former Pakistan cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar is thoroughly disappointed after Jodhpur-based High Court handed Bollywood star Salman Khan five-year jail term and subsequently fined him INR 10,000.
Meanwhile, the court found Salman guilty of poaching two blackbucks on the intervening night of October 1-2, 1998, in Kankani village near Rajasthan’s Jodhpur city.
As he prepares to appeal to the apex court, Salman found a support from his old-friend.
The lightning-quick Akhtar found the punishment too harsh and expressed his sadness. Although, he admitted that respect the decision of the honourable judges.
“Really sad to see my friend Salman Khan sentenced to five years (in jail), but the law must take its course and we got to respect the decision of honourable court of India.
“But I still think the punishment is to (too) harsh, but my heart goes to his family and fans. I am sure he will be out soon,” Akhtar tweeted.

Moreover, Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif also came in support of Salman Khan. He alleged that Salman was a target because of being a minority.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri, while pronouncing the verdict called Salman a ‘habitual offender’ under the wildlife protection laws of the country.
Meanwhile, Akhtar and Salman have been friends for a long time.
Earlier, Akhtar said if there ever was a biopic made on his life, Salman should play his role.
The Rawalpindi Express Akhtar represented Pakistan in all the three formats. He played 46 Tests, 163 One-day Internationals, and 15 T20Is for his country.
During his stint, Akhtar claimed 178 Test, 248 ODIs, and 19 T20I wickets. Most recently, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) roped him as their brand ambassador.
