Shoaib Akhtar’s advise helped me a lot, says Shami

While Shami was experiencing a lean patch in form, he fell back to Rawalpindi Express, Shoaib Akthat for advice and sought assistance from the former Pakistani speedster.As per his advice, Shami had modified his runup that assisted him in ginig the extra yard of pace and has maintained tight line and length.

He had also been in touch with his coach Badruddin who said that Shami had been trying hard but he had failed to provide India with the essential breakthroughs.However, keeping things simple has worked wonders for him as he has emerged as the most successful Indian pacer in this world cup, taking 8 wickets at a tormenting average of 11.11

Maintaining accuracy in line and length, he kept the West Indies batsmen on tenterhooks with Dwayne Smith and Chris Gayle struggling against the pacer.

He also expressed admission towards revelling bowling at the WACA in perth and said that the ball was swinging and bouncing effectively which helped him.

Shami also added that he would not make too many transformations to his bowling in New Zealand and planned on keeping it simple.

Team India take on Ireland in New Zealand next and India hope that Shami performs well in the knock out sages too
