Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are three prosperous captains of Indian cricket history, across all the formats. The current Indian captain Kohli overtook Dhoni and Ganguly’s Test win record to become the most successful Indian Test captain. But very few know that they share an astonishing record in ODIs as a player.

The trio has 183 runs as their highest individual score in ODIs. Moreover, interesting fact is that they soon became the captain after registering that score.

In the World Cup 1999 against Sri Lanka, Ganguly dismantled the opposition bowlers with his blistering 183 off 158 balls knock. And after that innings, in 2000, he was handed over the captaincy as Sachin Tendulkar resigned from the post.

In 2005 against Sri Lanka, MS Dhoni smashed the opposition bowlers to pieces when he struck 183 runs while chasing 299 runs. His remarkable innings paved the way for his captaincy as he led the team in T20 World Cup 2007 victory.

Virat Kohli achieved this feat against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2012. Chasing 330 runs target, Kohli played a match-winning 183 runs off 148 balls and guided the team to victory.
