India U19 batsman Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the first three unofficial One days against New Zealand A due to side strain. He suffered the injury during the practice camp of Punjab Ranji team and has now been ruled out.

“I was really excited about playing for India A. I was practising in Mohali before our state (Ranji Trophy) camp and I got injured there. I was in good form in England and was really looking forward to these games. Obviously, I am very disappointed. I was hoping that I would be fine before the series starts but unfortunately, I couldn’t (recover),” Gill told Wisden India.

Unlike many other players, Gill is a member of the squad for all the five games, which has come out as a big boon for him as this will not give him an opportunity to play last two games.

For the first time, BCCI selected two different squads, with only a few players getting a place in both the teams. While Shreyas Iyer will lead the team in first three contests, Rishab Pant will replace Iyer in the next two games.
The unofficial one-day series will be played from October 6 to 15. All the matches will be played in Visakhapatnam.

New Zealand A have already lost both the unofficial Test matches against India A by a margin of 2-0 as in the second Test too, Karn Sharma and Shahbaz Nadeem spun a web which led to India A winning the game.

It is to be noted that New Zealand selectors have already announced nine out of 15 members for the upcoming international series and remaining six members will be selected by performances in List A series.
