India’s Shubman Gill has reduced the gap between him and Pakistan’s Babar Azam as the ICC revealed the latest update of the ICC ODI Players rankings on October 25, 2023. Both the players have done well, with Shubman Gill missing out on a couple of encounters due to dengue.

Babar Azam’s lead as the no.1 ranked batter in ODI Batting Rankings has been reduced to just six rating points as India’s Shubman Gill and a host of stars in stunning form at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup close in on the Pakistan skipper.

Babar’s rating slips to 829 despite having scored 157 runs in five innings at the Cricket World Cup, his most recent effort a valiant 74 in a losing side against Afghanistan in Chennai. Shubman Gill, on the other hand, has 95 runs in three matches for India, and his highlight effort of 53 against Bangladesh in Pune has boosted his rating to 823 points.

South Africa teammate Heinrich Klaasen (up seven places to fourth and a new career-high rating) also makes good ground, while experienced duo Virat Kohli (improved three spots) and David Warner (up two spots) share fifth place on the rankings after some good performances in India.
