Shubman Gill, the young Indian cricketer, is the modern era cricketer who got the opportunity to play under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. For his impressive performance, he is labelled as the next possible opener for the Indian team. The Punjab cricketer made the debut in the Indian team in 2019 against New Zealand. Perhaps, he didn’t have a good debut matches as he scored 18 runs in 2 ODI games. Since then, he has been in the eye of the selectors and is included in the Test and ODI squad as a substitute. Although, the 20-year old is a regular player in the India A team. In last India A tour against New Zealand XI, he scored back to back two centuries in the four-day match.
After his impressive performance, he was also picked up in the squad of the two-match Test series against the Kiwis. However, he could not break into the playing XI as Prithvi Shaw was selected over him.
