Social media like Twitter or Instagram have brought the cricketers and their fans closer than ever. There was a time when fans used to dream of interacting with cricketers but things have completely changed now. Thanks to social media, the fans can easily convey their messages to their cricketers. And while most of the times these platforms are used in a positive way by the fans, sometimes a few of them use it to abuse cricketers.
Something similar happened with former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull. Doull is currently in India, plying his trade as a commentator in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. The former fast-bowler is one of the most popular commentators in the game for quite some time now. But it looks like not everyone likes his commentary. Doull himself revealed an abusive message he received on Instagram from a handle named Rahul Tewatia FC.
The person operating the handle looked annoyed with Doull and did not shy away from venting his frustration at the former cricketer-turned-commentator. Messaging Doull on Instagram, the person wrote: “@sdoull shut your f***ing mouth You are the worst commentator of all time so annoying.”
Doull noticed the message and shared it on Twitter. Sharing a picture of the message, he started his post on a sarcastic note before advising the person not to hide behind a fake name as he tweeted: “Hmmm. Should I accept or block. Can’t believe I still get work if I am so bad. Hope your amazing at your job who ever you are. Maybe come out from hiding behind a fake name and we can have a chat about our jobs..🤣🤷♂️”

Irfan Pathan’s suggestion for Simon Doull:
As soon as Simon Doull posted the abusive message on Twitter, fans weighed in with their views. And former India cricketer Irfan Pathan also joined the conversation. Pathan advised him to ignore the trolls before praising his work as a commentator.
“Don’t bother abt these trolls Doully. You are amazing at your work. Keep up the good work,” wrote Pathan.
