There wasn’t any good news for Indian fans despite the side wrapping up the series on the fourth day at Colombo. Man of the Match Ravindra Jadeja has been banned by the ICC on account of breaching its code of conduct.
The news brings in some serious damage for India, as the side relied greatly on the services of Jadeja’s all round skills for their comprehensive innings victory at Colombo.
An official statement from the ICC said that Jadeja had been banned for the upcoming third Test of the series at Kandy. The reason behind Jadeja’s ban has been the apparent accumulation of demerit points, during the course of the second Test.
The official statement from ICC, soon after the game ended, mentioned: “Ravindra Jadeja has been suspended for the upcoming Pallekele Test after an accumulation of demerit points.” Upon being named the Man of the Match for the second Test, Jadeja said, “In the first innings, the ball wasn’t turning when we were batting. But then it started turning from the middle part of the wicket. Mendis played very well, played some brilliant shots.”
“As a team, I think we also played good cricket. If the batsman is playing sweep regularly, it’s always a challenge. We have to change the line and lengths,” he added. With Jadeja not playing any part in the next game, Kuldeep Yadav is bound to make a comeback for the final game of the series.
