If They Sledge Us, They Will Get It Back – Mohammed Shami Sends A Message To Australian Team

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is known to be of quite cool and calm nature, but when this player gets going, there is no end to it. The upcoming Australia series will be a comeback series for him where he will play after a rest of one month and before the start of it, he has warned the Australian cricket team as he has said that if the Australian players would try to sledge the Indian team, then they will get it back,

“Sledging is a part of the game. When your opposition has struck a partnership in the game, you sledge the batsmen to break their focus. This comes from naturally. We sledge but never using bad words. Sledging is very important when you have to dismiss a set batsman or break a partnership,” Shami told India TV.

The Australian team have always been famous for its sledging and in fact, can be rated as number 1 team in this aspect. Earlier, most of the players used to let go the sledge of Aussies, but now the scenario has changed, the new crop never shy away from giving it back, and even before the start of the series, Shami found it apt to send a warning to the visitors,

“We are 100 percent ready to take on the Australian sledging. If they sledge us, they will get the appropriate reply. It will be a tit for tat reply. I think we are performing well from the past few series. We just clean swept Sri Lanka. We are confident of winning the series,” he added.

The limited over series between India and Australia will begin on September 17. Chennai will host the first ODI of the series. The limited over series also consists of four ODIs and three T20Is.

It is after four years when Australia have travelled to India for limited over bilateral series. When the last time they were here for the same, India won the one off T20I and also defeated the visitors in the seven match ODI series by a margin of 3-2. The Ranchi ODI came to an abrupt end after the rain halted Indian’s chase whereas the fifth ODI was called off few hours before the start of the game due to the cyclone that hit Cuttack at that time.

ODI Squads:

Australia – David Warner, Steven Smith(c), Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Aaron Finch, Glenn Maxwell, James Faulkner, Matthew Wade, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa
