Following a decision from the world cricket body; International Cricket Council (ICC), to suspend Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) due to the political interference, all-rounder Solomon Mire had made his decision public on photo-blogging site Instagram by revealing he’s is retiring from international cricket.

With many having a lump in their throats, Mire is the first casualty after ICC’s decision post their annual meeting in Zimbabwe.

Also, the development has irked Sikandar Raza, which also saw Zimbabwean fast bowler-turned-singer expressing disappointment about the same.

Meanwhile, Mire has featured in 58 matches for the Zimbabwean team. With members of the team fearing insecurity, Raza had further vented his anger on the social media platform. The decision also meant Zimbabwe would not take in the T20 World Cup qualifier which is scheduled in October.

Also, the decision stated that Zimbabwe wouldn’t receive any monetary support from the Dubai-based board.

Apart from representing Zimbabwe in two Tests between 2014 and 2014, he had played 47 ODIs apart from nine Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

I informed the players and tech staff of my decision at the end of the recent tour and wanted to formally announce my decision to retire from Zimbabwe Cricket in all formats with immediate effect,” Mire wrote on Instagram.

The promising cricketer admitted the fact that it’s an untimely decision, but he had already decided to look for a way forward.

“Representing my country at the highest level for me has been the highest honour. And service I could ever give and I have been extremely privileged to have been afforded the opportunity. My short career has been a roller coaster of highs and lows, stops and starts, frustrations and joys. But will be one I shall look upon and cherish for the once in a lifetime opportunity I was lucky enough to experience and for that I would like to express my gratitude. I can say without a doubt that sport and in particular international cricket will always be my biggest lesson in life. Ever,” Mire added on.

In the end, Mire had also thanked his teammates, coaching staff, family, friends and fans for being his strength.
