Sourav Ganguly backs India to perform well at ICC World Cup 2015
Former Indian aggressive skipper Sourav Ganguly felt defending champions India have a good opportunity of reaching the finale of the upcoming cricket ICC World Cup to be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand, which is starting from 14th February.
Releasing a book written by sports journalist Gautam Bhattacharjee, titled ‘Cupmohola’ (Seven World Cups) Ganguly said that he thinks India has a big opportunity in this World Cup.”
The book contains untold stories of the dressing room drama in the 7 cricket World Cups, from 1987- 2011. Despite India’s penurious performance in Australia, they will play well in the World Cup, Sourav Ganguly felt.
He was quoted saying: “You need one game in one afternoon to be a star and change the situation. This team (India) under MS Dhoni have the ability to excel and I won’t be surprised if India reach the final,” Ganguly said adding that the Indian team had been in Australia for last two moths and which would help them acclimatise to the the conditions better.”
Dada felt to win a World Cup a squad has to perform really well and handle pressure.
He does not think there are major problems in the Indian team. In big-time cricket India proficient in this event. He would be surprised if India perform poorly, he added.
When he was asked to name 3 players who would appear as top performers in the World Cup, Ganguly replied his choice would be Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Steve Smith.
