Sourav Ganguly calls for green wickets for Bengal’s home matches
Sourav Ganguly spoke in favour of having green top wickets for Bengal’s team during their home games. Sourav Ganguly, former Indian captain and the present joint secretary of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) spoke on this after the players were not happy regarding the home pitches they got.
According to Ganguly, a batsman will develop more maturity by playing on such tracks rather than playing on flat tracks , which will see them scoring so many runs. He feels that scoring 40s on such green wickets is a better effoort than scoring a hundred on a flat track.
Bengal is currently playing the Vijay Hazare domestic tournaments and will see such green tracks for their home games. Gangully also added that the team will find similar tracks for their home matches in the next Ranji Trophies.
Bengal’s batsman may struggle on such pitches but the team has a decent pace attack which has been the main reason for their success in the past. The team didn’t have a decent run in the past few seasons and it has been mainly due to their batsman.
Cricket Association of Bengal has been active recently, roping in several big names including Muralitharan and VVS Laxman in their mission to improve Bengal Cricket.
