Sourav Ganguly features in the four member panel to examine the Lodha committee verdict 

Former captain Sourav Ganguly has been included in the four member Working Committee that will examine the Lodha committee verdict. The Working Committee will make recommendations to the IPL Governing Council regarding the future Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals; and preparation of IPL 9 in six weeks of time.

The six member committee will be comprised of IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur, Advisory committee member Sourav Ganguly, and criminal lawyer Aniruidha Chaudhary. Their legal advisor will be UN Banerjee, BCCI twitted.

Rajiv Shulkla said that Sourav Ganguly, who is IPL Governing Council member, has been included in the group as a representative of players.

“We still have some time for IPL 9, so we should not take any hasty decision. We will follow the procedure and come to a consensus on all the matters relating to IPL,” Shukla said.

“The committee will also consult the legal experts before coming up with recommendations since we do not want any legal complications later on,” Shukla said.

On Sunday, IPL Governing Council meeting held in Mumbai in the wake of the Lodha Committee’s recommendation to suspend Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for two years from the tournament.

IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla said, “small group that will take six weeks to submit a report as to how we implement the order and way forward for IPL.”

 

“House has entrusted me with the responsibility to make a small group that will take six weeks to submit a report as to how we implement the order and way forward for IPL. How to conduct IPL, how many teams and all stakeholders CAC members, sponsors, broadcasters, state associations, legal experts that report will come to GC and it will go WC which will take decision,” Shukla asserted.

This Working Committee will submit a report to the IPL Governing Council, after that a decision will be taken about the proceedings of IPL.

However, one thing he confirmed that the next IPL will be “bigger and greater.”
