Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly maintained the high calibre cricketers like the remarkable gloveman Mahendra Singh Dhoni should not be quizzed for his ability and integrity, as he has proved his credentials from time and time again.
During his long-established career, Dhoni in the limited-overs cricket has won several games for India with his brilliance earlier as a skipper and now as a batsman.
“Players like [MS] Dhoni can never be put under a trial,” Ganguly told India Today.

The Ex-skipper Dhoni, who is featuring in his 299th One-day International game for India in the ongoing third match of the five-match ODI series at Pallekele, has been at the forefront – to score heavily for his side since making his international debut in December 2004.
Ganguly, who has himself appeared in 311 ODIs for India while scoring 11,363 runs at an average of 41.42, has always come in support of Dhoni, who has shared the significant chunk of success, particularly in the white-ball cricket.
In the ongoing series, Dhoni, who has been hailed as one of the best finishers of the game, played a similar unbeaten 45-run knock in the second ODI to forge a 100-run partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar in a bid to win the 2nd ODI by three wickets.
It’s pertinent to mention that during the ongoing series, the chief of selectors for Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) MSK Prasad reiterated the Ranchi-born batsman is not an automatic choice for the side under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Prasad, who was adamant in his approach during the recent briefing, has further hurt the sentiments of the Dhoni’s strong fan base.
However, Dhoni has always responded his critics with his explosive batting though he is not constant, as his skill has no match.

The 36-year-old Dhoni was severely criticized, as the question of him playing in the 2019 ICC World Cup was among the hottest of the debates of late. Wielding the willow like an axe, Dhoni has been a real figure in the international set-up for India and further known for his calm and composed approach in the middle while anchoring the innings owing to the dicey situations. The right-handed batsman has carved out a niche with his will power and sheer dedication in the gentleman’s game.
Interestingly, the competitor in the form of Dhoni has led India in three major World tournaments – to emerge as one of the successful skippers in the cricket world. The celebrated cricketer, Dhoni is averaging 51.57 in 298 ODIs so far after amassing 9,541 runs. He has smashed ten hundred and 64 fifties, as his highest score is unbeaten 183 which came against Sri Lanka.
