Ravi Shastri, Sourav Ganguly

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has recently claimed that Ravi Shastri is the right choice as the head coach of the national team for the next two years.

Recently, Ravi Shastri has retained his head coach position of the Indian national cricket team. He faced the interview process along with the other four shortlisted candidates. Former New Zealand head coach Mike Hesson was very close to beat Shastri, but the former Indian cricketer has managed to succeed him due to the better experience about the present Indian cricket system.

Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy were the CAC members in the latest interview. Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman were the previous CAC members who recommended Shastri as the head coach after the 2017 interview process.

Ravi Shastri now has to justify – Sourav Ganguly

Ganguly feels Shastri is the right choice to handle the head coach post of the present Indian team. However, the former Indian captain also added that the head coach needed to justify this selection.

Ganguly told India Today, “Ravi has been doing this for five years (except one year of Anil Kumble) and now been given this responsibility for two more years. So I don’t think anyone else in history has got such a long time with the team. He is the right choice but he now has to justify. He has two T20 World Cups ahead and in such big tournaments, India needs to find ways to win them.”
