The former Indian captain and one of the greatest leaders in Cricket, Sourav Ganguly made his debut to the Cricket Administration. He had been appointed as the joint secretary of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and yesterday was his first day at office.
On the very first day of his new career, he claimed that playing cricket was much tougher than wearing an administrator’s hat. He stated that there is no second chance in cricket. If one makes a mistake, he gets no second chance to rectify but according to him, administration is not like that as one gets opportunities.
He also pointed out the fact that he has a very good team headed by Jagmohan Dalmiya and both of them have to go ahead and take measures for the betterment of Bengal Cricket. He admitted that it is quite a different feeling to sit on the chair as he remembered his late father, Chandidas Ganguly who was once a joint-secretary of CAB.
The 42-year old former cricketer also co-owns a football franchise, Atletico De Kolkata besides being involved in commentary of major Cricket matches. He met Jagmohan Dalmiya to commence with a new innings in the administration of cricket.
When he was being asked about the fact that whether he could provide justice to his role, the Former Captain answered with sheer optimism by saying that if Mukesh Ambani can run many companies together, why can not he! He said that he will be in Kolkata for his duties at CAB and also for his owned team and he will be away for a few months for the purpose of commentary.
Ganguly also spoke about his plans in administration. He said that he has certain plans in him but they will need a time of 4-5 months for implementation. He stated that he has plans for improving the wicket at Eden Gardens and also he has some plans to improve players’ selection in Bengal.
He is hoped to bring up some major improvements in Bengal Cricket and perhaps Indian Cricket as a whole.
