Sourav Ganguly likely to be appointed as team India’s consultant
As per the reports in the Mid Day, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is likely to be appointed as team India’s consultant starting from the tour of Bangladesh that commences shortly after the IPL 8.
It has been learnt that in a BCCI working committee (headed by Jagmohan Dalmiya) meeting, which is scheduled to take place on April 26 in Kolkata, is expected to push Ganguly’s name for the consultant as after already been drafted into the IPL’s governing council, it might just be a matter of time that the ‘Prince of Kolkata’ will be seen in a bigger role. The working committee is also likely to clear the route for the short tour of Zimbabwe, which is expected to take place in July.
However, the issue that could be discussed at length is the amount of Rs 5 lakh that was recorded as the valuation of de-merger of Chennai Super Kings from its parent company India Cements. The new IPL governing council is not happy with the valuation and it has been learnt that no one from the old governing council, which determined the present valuation of the Chennai franchise, had expressed objection that time. It was only after the new council took charge under the directions of the SC that the issue was red-flagged in a meeting on April 20.
