The legendary allrounder had played an instrumental role when South Africa lifted their only Champions Trophy in the inaugural edition in 1998. He bagged the man-of-the-match award for scoring an unbeaten 113 the semi-final against Sri Lanka before winning the award again in the final by taking 5 for 20 as South Africa defeated West Indies. He scored 653 runs and took 20 wickets in 17 Champions Trophy matches.
