Vettori’s all-round displays had powered the Black Caps to the final of the tournament in 2009. He had scored 48 in addition to taking two wickets to help his side beat Sri Lanka in a must-win game before taking 3 for 43 and scoring 41 to guide his team to a win over Pakistan in the semi-final.
Overall, the left-arm spinner took 18 wickets and scored 299 runs in 17 matches.
