Former Indian captain Ganguly picked his All-Time Playing XI which is dominated by Australians. There are only two Indians in his team. In Ganguly’s team, neither Virender Sehwag; nor Anil Kumble or Zaheer Khan are in the XI.
The Prince of Kolkata picked Alastair Cook and Matthew Hayden as his openers, while Rahul Dravid at No. 3 and Sachin at No. 4. Both Rahul and Sachin used to play at this positions respectively during their careers.
Ganguly also picked Ricky Ponting as the captain while Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka is the wicketkeeper.
In a curious decision; Ganguly kept Ricky Ponting, who used to bat at No. 3, at the No. 7 position.
In the spin department, Warne and Muralitharan were picked up. There is no place for Brian Lara, arguably the best ever left-handed in Test cricketer. In the pace bowling, Glenn McGrath, Dale Steyn got a place while Jacques Kallis is the only all-rounder in his team.
Here is Ganguly’s All-Time XI:
1. Matthew Hayden (Australia)
