Sourav Ganguly Talks About No.4 Batting In Indian Cricket team

In the Indian team, the no.4 is always debatable and the finding is still on as the young players are being given the spot. KL Rahul has been given many chances in Test Matches for the opening position, the player has disappointed everyone. He can also lose the chance in T20I if he doesn’t improve. Sourav Ganguly also goes with the same vein.

Ganguly says if Rahul is not able to improvise his performance then players like Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey can grab his spot. He needs to buck up and start performing well before the opportunity slips from Rahul’s hand, Ganguly has opined.

“With Rohit and Shikhar at the top as the best possible opening pair, KL Rahul will be pushed. He has lost his place in Test cricket due to indifferent form and the likes of Shreyas and Manish Pandey will keep him on his toes if he wants to hold onto the No. 4 slot,” Ganguly wrote in his column for The Times of India.

Shreyas Iyer better performance has given him a chance: Ganguly

In the second T20I against South Africa, Shreyas Iyer was given the place and Rahul was seen sitting in the bench. In West Indies soil, Iyer was praiseworthy as he scored two fifties consecutively in the ODI. His commendable performances against West Indies has given him the chance in T20I, says Ganguly.

“Shreyas Iyer finds a place in the T20 squad, a reward for his good show in the 50-overs games in West Indies,” Ganguly added.

On South Africa team, Sourav Ganguly said that the team is under transition period and will take time to get in the race.

“South Africa is in a rebuilding phase. They need to look at the system back home. Not very long ago, they boasted of having enormous talent, but like many teams, they have dropped a few levels down.”
