Sourav Ganguly To Continue In His Commentary Role Despite Conflict Of Interest Issues

Despite the allegations of Conflict of Interest issues, the former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly, who is currently working in the ICC World Cup 2019 would like to continue his services. The stylish southpaw will speak on the latest allegations after the conclusion of the grand event.

The 2019 ICC World Cup has seen a plethora of Indian stars including the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly appear in the commentary box. While it was pleasing for the average Indian fan to listen to their anecdotes, the same can’t be said about BCCI’s ethics officer DK Jain.

BCCI’s Ethics Officer, D K Jain, in an order passed on an internal conflict-of-interest complaint, has questioned the presence of stars like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Harbhajan Singh and close to 20 other former and current cricketers in the commentary box for the ongoing tournament in England.

Sourav Ganguly has no contract

It is, however, learnt that Ganguly, one of the most respected voices in international cricket, will be completing his World Cup assignment as it is an exclusive contract with the ICC and not Star Sports.

“Sourav is doing commentary for the world feed. He has no contractual obligations with the Star Sports,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying. And this is his only one-off broadcasting assignment for the time being for the ICC. He will certainly complete his World Cup assignment.

”He is not doing the Afghanistan match. Sourav is back in Kolkata for some personal work. But he is going to be back in UK on June 25. And, do the remaining India games starting the match on 27th against West Indies in Manchester,” the source said.

Well, most probably, all the other Indian cricketers would also continue with their roles in the commentary panel for the ICC World Cup 2019. Further, it comes to know that all those stalwart players will be doing the commentary role only for the ICC World Cup 2019.

Following that, the assignments for each player will be on the basis of a bilateral series and the language. For now, they would finish their task for the broadcasters of the tournament.
