Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Friday confirmed the schedule for Australia’s white-ball tour of South Africa prior to the ODI World Cup 2023. The Proteas will host the Australian team for three T20 internationals and five One-day Internationals from 30 August to 17 September. The ODI internationals will act as important preparation for both sides ahead of an all-important ODI World Cup later this year.
Earlier this year, The two nations were scheduled to play a three-match ODI series in Australia, but South Africa scraped the bilateral affair to conduct the first edition of SA20.
The home team South Africa has an outstanding record against Australia in recent times winning 11 out of the 12 ODI against them including whitewashing Australia in two series. Australia’s last series victory on South African soil came in 2011 and the Pat Cummins-led side would look to turn things when taking on the Proteas this time.

“It is the start of the international season for us and it is a particularly important campaign in many respects because of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup which is taking place in India later in the year. We haven’t qualified just yet, but we hope to be there and challenge the best in the world when the tournament is played in October and November,” Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki commented.
The Proteas had won the two matches against the Netherlands to claim the 8th spot in the ODI Super League table as only eight teams can directly qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup scheduled to be held in India especially if Ireland loses at least one ODI against Bangladesh in a three-match series this month.
South African cricket is going through a few changes as new coaches have taken over and Aiden Markram named as the new captain of the South African T20 side.
Australian team made a brilliant comeback to win the ODI series against India in an away three-match ODI series and the Pat Cummins-led side will continue their winning momentum in the forthcoming WTC final and Ashes 2023 and then carry forward their form in the while-ball leg to prepare them for ODI World Cup 2023.
