South Africa vs Sri Lanka 2019: 4th ODI, Port Elizabeth – Match Report; Once again, it is the same story in the series between South Africa and Sri Lanka. The hosts outclassed Sri Lanka pretty convincingly to secure 6 wickets victory at Port Elizabeth. It was a collective effort from the Proteas team, which helped them to outdone Isuru Udana’s heroics.

2nd Innings:

Quinton de Kock once again showed his class by thrashing Sri Lankans to all corners of the park. He continued his purple patch by scoring a fifty in the low-scoring chase for South Africa. Meanwhile, the vows continued for the opener Reeza Hendricks, who scored 8 runs.

The flamboyant batsman Aiden Markram, who returned to the fold got a good start of 29 in 32 balls but unfortunately, he couldn’t quite carry on. Despite losing his wicket, he stitched a decent 56-run partnership for the second.

As usual, the skipper Faf du Plessis has been brilliant for the team with his 43-run knock before being dismissed to Dhananjaya de Silva.  Just when things looked like drifting away, David Miller and JP Duminy stitched an unbeaten 46-run partnership to shoulder Proteas over the line.

For Sri Lanka, Dhananjaya de Silva picked up 3 wickets while Kasun Rajita chipped in with one wicket to his name.

1st Innings:

Once again, Sri Lanka started things off in a poor way. Dale Steyn gave the initial breakthrough by sending Upul Tharanga back to the hut while Lungi Ngidi got better off Oshada Fernando. However, Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis looked like balancing the ship.

Just when things looked settling in the middle, the young N0rtje struck twice in an over to stretch the vows for Sri Lanka. He carried his form by knocking yet another wicket in the same spell while Andile Phehlukwayo also rattled Kusal Mendis’ wicket.

Dhananjaya de Silva scored 22 before being dismissed to JP Duminy while Thisara Perera couldn’t repeat his heroics. All of a sudden scorecard looked 97/7. But, then came the majestic knock from the bowler Isuru Udana.

He smashed a blistering 78-run knock off 54 balls by numbering 7 boundaries and 4 Sixes. For South Africa, Anrich Nortje picked up 3 wickets while Phehlukwayo grabbed a couple. The rest of the bowlers chipped in with each apiece.

Performers of the match:

Despite losing the game, it was Isuru Udana, who brought the life to the game with a stunning knock. In between, Anrich Nortje wreaked havoc in the middle, which helped South Africa dominate things. In batting, once again, de Kock impressed everyone.
