Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 has been the talk of the town for quite some time now. A few weeks ago, Pakistan had threatened to boycott the World Cup after India refused to travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023.

However, things are looking better now after the Asian Cricket Council accepted Pakistan’s hybrid model. Pakistan are expected to participate in the World Cup and are currently waiting for clearance from their government.

And ahead of their participation in the competition, CAB president Snehasish Ganguly, the elder brother of Sourav Ganguly, has opened up on the arrangements for the World Cup games in Kolkata. The iconic Eden Gardens will host 5 games during the competition.

They will host the clash between India and South Africa along with two games involving Pakistan. CAB is delighted over bagging 5 games and Ganguly has opened up on the same as he thanked BCCI and Jay Shah for the five crucial matches.

“We are satisfied. I really want to thank Jay Shah, BCCI and the ICC. I was working for the last 4 months. I have been working for the good matches. We show the designs and everything. We have got the best ground in the IPL.

“We never had question mark about this. So a lot of plus minus includes in these kinds of decisions. Jay Shah promised to give me good matches. I thanked Mr. Jay shah and BCCI that they have a good perspective about Eden gardens,” Ganguly said as quoted by India Today.

Snehasish Ganguly on Pakistan games:

With Pakistan set to play two games in Kolkata, CAB will have their task cut out. The Men in Green will need high security and Ganguly said that CAB are ready for the task.

“We have already hosted India vs Pakistan in T20Is. But we are having two Pak matches. These matches are tough. Organising a World Cup is challenging. We are prepared to take any kind of challenges. In all the IPL matches we had lovely crowd.

“I am very confident about hosting the matches. Special security arrangements will be there for Pakistan. I think Pakistan has played previously in Kolkata. I don’t know the inside story. But their first preference is Kolkata, followed by Chennai and Bengaluru,” he said.
