Arjun Tendulkar, son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, grabs the attention every now and then with his cricketing skills. He was recently in the news for nearly injuring England batsman Jonny Bairstow with a yorker while bowling during England’s practise session at the Lord’s. As a result of the blow, Bairstow had to limp out of the nets after playing facing just a solitary delivery from the 17-year-old. The England wicketkeeper-batsman’s left foot was placed briefly in a compression unit to reduce the pain during the session but the injury was not serious and he was able to play the first Test against South Africa.
He once again grabbed the limelight when he bowled in the nets to the Indian women’s team before their World Cup final against England.
Here is a clip showing Arjun bowling in the nets:

And while Arjun is slowly and steadily moving towards his dream of becoming a cricketer, there is no denying that the fans around the country are keen to know about his potentials. In fact, bowling legend Glenn McGrath had also said he would like to see the youngster bowl.
“Sachin’s (Tendulkar) son? How old is he now (17), similar age to my son. I haven’t seen him bowl yet and keen to see how he goes, but he must do ok. When the MRF (pace Academy) started, one of the first guys to come along was Sachin,” McGrath had told reporters last week.
“Sachin wanted to be a fast bowler. Is his son taller than Sachin (reporters say yes), so that might help him. But that’s good to see and they have the love for the game. Sachin always wanted to be a fast bowler,” he had added.
Bowling speed:
Well, looks like Arjun has got the talent to make it big in the game. The budding cricketer was constantly hitting speeds of over 130 km per hour when he was bowling to Indian Women’s cricket team at the Lord’s which had left the players pleasantly surprised.
