The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League has witnessed some really nail-biting finishes. The 24th game of the league between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings turned out to be a thriller and one man who stole the limelight was Ambati Rayudu.
Dhoni called the toss right and elected to field with the threat of rain hovering around the garden city- Bangalore. Pawan Negi came in place of Manan Vohra and the skipper Virat Kohli opened the innings for the Royal Challengers. Kohli though could only score 18 while his opening partner Quinton de Kock finally made it count. The wicket-keeper batsman hit 4 sixes and a boundary to get to 53 off 37 balls.
CSK wins it in style
In-form AB de Villiers put on another good show, belting the bowlers out of the park. The right-hander smashed eight sixes and two fours to get to 68 off 30 balls. Mandeep Singh, who has been among runs, scored a brisk 32 off 17 balls.
But a target of 206 wasn’t enough as Rayudu and CSK skipper Dhoni ensured a scintillating end to the day. Rayudu, who hit a match-winning 70-plus run against Hyderabad in his last game, stepped up the radar, scoring 82 off 53 balls before a direct hit from Umesh Yadav ended his knock.
Rayudu bagged the orange cap and said that he was always in with a chance. On the constant shuffling of batting position, the batter said that he isn’t too much bothered and just wants to play good cricket.”Unbelievable. We lost a few wickets early, but on this ground anything is possible. I’m not really bothered (about where I’m batting) because I’m hitting the ball really well. We had the belief and we were calculating which bowler had how many overs, we just wanted to play out Chahal.” he said at end of the 5-wicket win for the visitors.
