- Joe Root – England’s Mr. Dependable

In the recently concluded five-Test series against India, Root scored 491 runs at an average of 49.10 with a century and four half-centuries.
Topping the calendar year run-chart, Root amassed 1477 runs in 17 Tests at an average of 49.23 which includes three centuries and 10 half-centuries.
Root has been hailed as one of the modern-day great like his counterpart Virat Kohli, but the former didn’t meet the expectation this season as he failed to convert his scores into big ones. He is even expected to replace current Test skipper Alastair Cook to lead the England side.
