  1. Parthiv Patel:

It is not every day that a player is recalled for national duties after a colossal span of eight years, and then exceeds all expectations by performing well. This has been the case of India’s Test wicketkeeper at the moment, Parthiv Patel.

Patel’s career seemed done and dusted with Wriddhiman Saha being backed by the team management. An injury to the latter against England in the second Test at Vizag meant that Patel was recalled to the side. The game at Mohali was Parthiv’s first test since 2008, and just the 21st of his career, which commenced in 2002!

Patel, though, performed remarkably as he stole the show with his bat right at the top of the order. His fluent half-century in the second innings at Mohali was a joy to watch. But the moment to cherish for Parthiv came in the fifth test at Chennai, where after keeping for 157.2 overs, Patel opened the innings and made a solid 71.
