David Warner (Australia) – 173 (136b, 24*4)
In an innings that went in vain, Australia’s pocket dynamite David Warner, played an innings of his lifetime in Cape Town against South Africa October this year. Having opted to bat, the hosts put in a target in excess of 320 and Australia had a poor start losing Steve Smith, George Bailey and Aaron Finch cheaply.
But South Africa ran into a rampant David Warner who scored his second century of that series in fine fashion. Though he had little support at the other end, he stood strong, and kept punishing South Africa to get his side to within touching distance of a victory. He ran out of partners as Australia eventually lost by 31 runs to lose the series 5-0 but this game will be remembered for the extraordinary innings by the left handed opener.
