Another dramatic instance came in the same Test at Mirpur when England lost their 10 wickets for only 64 runs to suffer their first Test loss against Bangladesh. Chasing 273, England were in a commanding position after Alastair Cook and Ben Duckett shared a 100-run stand for the first wicket but the latter’s dismissal proved to be decisive as the hosts claimed ten wickets in a stunning final session on Day 3 to secure a historic first Test victory over England. The 19-year old spinner Mehedi Hasan, who was playing his second Test, was the standout performer with 12 wickets in the game.
