The 10th match of the season saw two teams – Hyderabad and Mumbai – marred by injuries up against each other at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Both the teams were not having a good start to the season. While Mumbai had won only 1 match from the three matches they played, SRH were still looking for their first win of the season. Both the teams were missing some key players due to injury.
SRH captain invited Mumbai Indians to bat first after winning the toss. Mumbai were reeling at 60 for 4 at one stage but did remarkably well in the closing stages to reach 142. Credit goes to Rayudu and Krunal Pandey in particular.
Chasing 143, SRH made a terrible start but then David Warner and Moises Henriques steadied the ship with a 62 runs partnership. David Warner remained not out to see his side cross the target quite comfortably in the end.
1. David Warner: 4/5
Remained unbeaten on 90 to guide SRH to their first win in this year’s IPL. Smashed two sixes, in the end, to take his team past the finishing line.
2. Shikhar Dhawan: 1/5
His poor form with the bat is getting worse match after match. Dismissed in the very first over.
SRH need to drop him to ease the pressure off David Warner.
3. Moises Henriques: 3/5
Bowled an economical quota of four overs, conceding 6 runs per over. Was involved in a crucial second-wicket partnership of 62 runs
with David Warner.
4. Eoin Morgan: 2/5
Much was expected from him after his fighting fifty in the previous match against KKR but disappointed. Got out at a very critical
5. Deepak Hooda: 3/5
Came to bat in a tricky situation but some quickfire runs to chase the target quite comfortably in the end.
6. Naman Ojha: 1/5
Did not get the chance to bat.
7. Ashish Reddy: 0.5/5
Did not get the chance to bowl or bat.
8. Bipul Sharma: 1/5
Was bowling well early on but conceded too many runs in his final overs. Conceded 40 off his 4 overs.
9.Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 3.5/5
Dismissed the dangerous Martin Guptill in the very first over to set the tone for his team. Bowled very economically, conceding only
17 runs from his 4 overs.
10. Barinder Sran: 3.5/5
Was struggling to find his length early on but then found his rhythm. Took 3 for 28 from his 4 overs.
11. Mustafizur Rahman: 1.5/5
Apart from dismissing Hardik Pandya, did nothing much. Conceded 32 from his 4 overs.
