Sri Lanka, the finalists of the ICC World Cup 2007 and 2011, have announced the 30-men preliminary squad for the ICC World Cup 2015.
Suspended spinner Sachitra Senanayake has been included in the squad. Senanayka was banned from bowling from international cricket in July this year after his action was found illegal following the bio-mechanical assessments. Currently, he is improving his action and if he passes the tests for his action before January 7th (the last date for announcement of final 15 for World Cup ), he’ll surely be a part of the Lankan team for the World Cup.
There aren’t many surprises in the squad except a few. Both Farveez Maharoof and Nuwan Pradeep, who last played ODIs in 2012, have been included in the squad.
Lakshan Sandakan, the slow left-arm chinaman, who is a part of the current ODI series against England, has also been included.
Sri Lanka’s 30-men preliminary squad:
Angelo Mathews (Captain), T M Dilshan, Lahiru Thirimanna, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Kusal Janith, Upul Tharanga, Dimuth Karunarathna, Dinesh Chandimal, Ashan Priyanjana, Kithuruwan Vithanage, Niroshan Dickwella, Rangana Herath, Dilruwan Perera, Seekkuge Prasanna, Ajantha Mendis, Sachithra Senanayake, P H D Kaushal, Jeevan Mendis, Ramith Rambukwella, Suranga Lakmal, Nuwan Kulasekara, Lasith Malinga, Dhammika Prasad, Shaminda Eranga, Thisara Perera, F.
