Following a series of blasts on Easter in Colombo last week which subsequently left 359 people dead and 400 more injured, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Saturday (April 27) has called for an indefinite break regarding Under-19 series against visiting Pakistan.
Pertinently, with ground situation critical in the Island nation, SLC board has informed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) through an official letter regarding the unavoidable circumstances.
The reports suggested that the Board does not want any untoward situation hampering the movement of players.
The Lankan board has made it clear that they can afford to take a chance under the uncertain circumstances. The officials made it clear that the decision has solely come from SLC.
“The tour has been postponed indefinitely – a decision taken by SLC. We didn’t want to take any chances,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Lankan official.
One of the Under-19 players Saim Ayub was keen to play in Sri Lanka. Ayub has been the part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators. But he couldn’t get any opportunity in the playing XI.

Besides, Pakistan’s youngsters were bound to leave for Colombo on Tuesday (April 30).
Also, the visiting side was scheduled to kick-off their campaign with May 3 game at the Galle International Stadium.
Moreover, they were three One-day matches apart from two four-day games in Hambantota and Galle respectively.
However, PCB has been closely following the developments. Since last week, Pakistan Under-19 squad is training in Karachi. Besides, Rohail Nazir is leading the exciting bunch of youngsters who’re training hard since last five days.
Meanwhile, Pakistan next tour will be to South Africa where they will compete to set sights on the Under-19 World Cup scheduled in the same continent.
In 2018, Pakistan lost to India in one of the semi-finals in New Zealand.
