Hosts Sri Lanka will take on India in the opening match of the Nidahas Trophy T20I Tri-Nation Series. The tri-series will , also featuring Bangladesh, will get underway on March 6.
The series is being played to mark 70 years of Sri Lanka’s independence. The series will have six games. All the six games will be be played at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium (RPS) and will start at 7 PM local time.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, both the visiting teams will reach Sri Lanka a couple of days before the start of the series. Afterwards, Bangladesh will play a warm-up game. On the other hand, India will directly take the field for the series-opener on March 6.
India are currently in South Africa. The tour is now towards its end as both the teams are playing the T20I series following the Tests and ODIs. India have not looked back since losing the first two Tests.
The tourists won the third Test and went on to win the ODI series 5-1. The Men in Blue have also won the opening encounter of the ongoing three-match T20I series.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka recently played an ODI tri-series in Bangladesh. The Islanders emerged victorious in the series. After that, Bangladesh hosted Sri Lanka for two Tests and two T20 Internationals. Sri Lanka won both the Test and ODI series.
Meanwhile, the Nidahas Trophy will conclude on March 16. Sri Lanka will host Bangladesh in the final game of the series.
