Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh: Bangladesh Triumphs Over Sri Lanka In Historic Test Match
Bangladesh secured a pivotal and a notable win over Sri Lanka in their 100th Test match. The visitors needed to hunt a total of 191 runs in the final innings to level the series. Rangana Herath, who was the only captain of Sri Lanka to win first three games as the captain himself headed the bowling attack and gave two early jitters to Bangladesh before the Lunch break.
It looked like once again Bangladesh will crumble and might lose the game but experienced batsman Tamim Iqbal and Sabbir Rahman took the responsibility and shared a partnership of 109 runs for the third wicket to bring the team’s boat closer to the target.
Sri Lanka lit up some fade chances of a win when Dilruwan Perera took the crucial wicket of Sabbir Rahman but the wicket came too late and soon Bangladesh crossed the finishing line, registering a win in their 100th Test. With this win, they become the fourth team after Australia, West Indies and Pakistan to win their 100th Test match. This was also first away Test win for them since 2014.
Tamim Iqbal, who played crucial innings of 49 and 82 was adjudged Man of the Match whereas Shakib-al-Hasan was bestowed with Man of the Series award. With this win, Bangladesh levelled the Test series and the series ended in a draw
Now both the teams will be taking on each other in three match ODI and two-match T20I series.
Twitter was in all praise for Bangladesh for registering a win. Here is how twitter reacted in this win –
