Sri Lanka has announced their T20I squad for the one-off T20I against England. The Island nation will be led by Thisara Perera as Angelo Mathews is left out once again. Mathews was recently sacked from the captaincy role after the poor performance of the team in the Asia Cup. Furthermore, there were reports that selectors were not happy with the fitness of the former Sri Lankan skipper.
Meanwhile, Lasith Malina gets back into the squad after an impressive show in the ongoing ODI series. Sri Lanka has already lost the ODI series as the series stands at 3-0 after four matches, one match was abandoned due to rain. In fact, Malinga had last played for Sri Lanka in the shortest format one year ago when he took the field against India.

Lasith Malinga Returns to the T20I squad.
Malinga has had a majestic return to the side. He had a good Asia Cup and scalped a five-wicket haul in the second One-Dayer against England. Thus, Malinga has grabbed his chances in the 50-overs format and deserves to make a return in the T20I side.
Meanwhile, ambidextrous spinner Kamindu Mendis also makes the cut into the T20I squad. Mendis had scored a good knock of 70 odd runs in the warm-up match against England.

Sri Lanka’s ODI and Test captain Dinesh Chandimal also find a place in the T20I squad. Kusal Perera also returns after the injury lay off whereas Niroshan Dickwella also gets his place in the side.
The one-off T20I will take place at R. Premadasa Stadium on 27th October.
