Sri Lanka Vs India 2017 It Was An Exciting Game – Virat Kohli

There haven’t been more thrilling ODI’s than this one in recent memory. What Bhuvneshwar Kumar and MS Dhoni have achieved in the middle is beyond superlatives, as the two got together for a magical stand to see India through, in a run chase full of ups and downs. Needing 231 to win in 47 overs, India were breezing along without any hindrance as Rohit Sharma’ s half century powered the run chase.

However, the introduction of Akila Dhananjaya turned the game around on its head as the spinner rattled India’s revamped batting order. Castling as many as three middle order batsmen in Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Kedar Jadhav, the young spinner reduced India to 131-7.

This is where one of the most resilient partnerships in recent times was witnessed, as MS Dhoni and Bhuvneshwar Kumar got together to see India home. The 100 run stand included a maiden ODI half century from Bhuvneshwar Kumar as Dhoni was happy to play the second fiddle.

Terming the game as exciting, Kohli said:

“It was quite an exciting game of cricket. It gave us a tough test out there but was good to come through. Was good to see two 100-run stands in a 230 run chase and then a collapse. Strange game but good that we came through. You want to give the other guys in the team a go too.”

The Indian captain was full in awe of the young spinner, as he added:

“We got out to good deliveries. Akila bowled an outstanding spell. Even batting at No.3, I would have still gotten out to that delivery. It’s difficult when you haven’t seen the guy but now we will be more careful. Credit to him; he capitalized on the hesitation because we were not reading him too well. He attacked the stumps.”
