Sri Lanka vs India 2017: India Look to Win the T20 and End the Tour 9-0
India’s tour of Sri Lanka is finally drawing to an end, and India has a chance to clean sweep the series 9-0 which could equal the record for the biggest margin for a clean sweep.
India had dominated the hosts in past two months as the Islanders have not managed to win a single match in the whole series.
India beat Sri Lanka 3-0 in the Test series and then whitewashed the hosts 5-0 in the One Day series as well. Both the teams will now lock horns in the one-off T20 match on Wednesday. A win in that game would extend the tally to 9-0 on tour. Only Australia had managed to clean sweep 9-0 Pakistan in Down under in 2010.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka will be looking for a consolation win in the T20 format. Upul Tharanga will lead the team in the T20 format for the first time, as Angelo Matthews stepped down from captaincy in July. Sri Lanka will be looking forward to getting their team combination right, as they play Pakistan later this month.
India’s strength has been their batting throughout the series, and the batsmen have proved their mettle in the Test series as well. However, the batting line has been tested in the One-Day series, as it has been a blessing for former captain MS Dhoni. Dhoni remained unbeaten the in four innings he played.
One of the areas of concern for the Indian team is the middle order. KL Rahul has struggled to score runs at the number four position. Sri Lanka is a good side but has not been able to implement the plans at the right place and at the right time.
Virat Kohli will be looking forward to finishing off the series with a win in the T20 and complete the tour with a 9-0 win over the host.
