It wasn’t even a contest as India, on the back of power packed batting performance demolished Sri Lanka at Colombo, to place the series in a commanding position of 4-0. It was a batting display, where skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma stood out from the front with belligerent tons. While it was the successive century for Sharma, Kohli breezing his way to 131 off just 96 deliveries was pure carnage.

The Sri Lankan bowlers displayed a sense of abject surrender as the willows of Sharma and Kohli did all the talking. There was not even a question of Sri Lanka fighting as fielding their third captain of the series; the side was in a complete disarray.

The only positive for the hosts was stand in skipper Lasith Malinga getting to his 300th ODI wicket when he dismissed his Indian counterpart. The chase had nothing special as Sri Lanka eventually fell short by a huge margin of 168 runs.

Post the loss, skipper Lasith Malinga himself admitted that his form was a worry for the team.

“300 wicket is special,” said Malinga. “But, it is just a number. I feel these last few days, I’m not doing well for the team.”

“Still lost the game and that doesn’t feel good. We are still to get 250 in the series, I think the youngsters are too excited and couldn’t perform well to their potential. Hopefully they will comeback strong and perform well in the coming games,” the Sri Lankan skipper concluded.
