Congratulating India on winning the series-clinching win in Colombo, veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has urged Virat Kohli & Co. to go for a whitewash.
Team India, currently number one in the world, wrapped up the three-match series by thrashing Sri Lanka by an innings and 53 runs in the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club on Sunday (August 6). After being enforced to follow-on, Sri Lanka, led by Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis’ stunning centuries, staged a good fight back but the 439-run lead proved to be too much in the end as they were bowled out for 386. Their horrific batting performance in the first innings, when they were all out for a paltry 183 in reply to India’s mammoth 622, played a decisive-role in the match. But they will take a lot of confidence from spirited performance in the second innings and would look to improve further in the next Test at Pallekele.
India, on the other hand, continued their dominant run and won their eighth consecutive series. The chain of series wins had begun in 2015 in Sri Lanka only when Kohli’s team had defeated the hosts by 2-1. After that, the team defeated South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia. And with the team looking in great form, Harbhajan Singh has urged them to go for a win in the final match too and inflict a whitewash on the hosts.
“Congratulations @BCCI Team India for winning the Test series vs Sri Lanka 2-0 keep going guys.. make it 3-0 ✅” tweeted the Turbanator.

India had inflicted a whitewash on Sri Lanka when they had thrashed the island nation 3-0 in 1993 but the win had come at home. Moreover, India have not won all the matches of a Test series outside the country and will be keen to break the duck.
