Sri Lanka Vs India 2017: Rain Threatens To Play Spoilsport For The Last ODI
While the two teams are preparing earnestly for the fifth and final match of the series at Colombo, their hard-work might go in vain with rain threatening to play spoilsport. It has been raining heavily in the Sri Lankan capital since morning with the ground being under heavy covers.
While the players, as well as fans, will hope to see the full game, the chances are looking bleak as of now as there is a forecast of a shower throughout the day.
Am afraid news coming out of Colombo not so good. It's been raining since morning with a bleak forecast for the day/evening #IndvSL

Well, if the weather does relent, the inconsequential game is going to be an important one even though it could be a shortened game. Both the teams have been experiencing different fortunes in the ongoing series. While India is yet to lose a match on tour, having won the Test series 3-0 and are leading the ODI series 4-0, Sri Lanka is looking set to suffer a humiliating whitewash. The Islanders have shown a spark of brilliance in the last three ODIs by taking some quick wickets, but the failure of inflicting the killer punch has undone their good work.
With the series all done and dusted now, the hosts would be desperate to win the final game to return to the winning ways and avoid a whitewash.

With the team going through a torrid time this year, Sri Lanka batting coach Avishka Gunawardena, on Saturday (September 2) emphasized the importance of the last game and said that winning the game is the only way for the team to turn things around.
“The technical side we don’t want to mess around while the series is on. It’s more mental preparations that we need to work on. It’s got to be more tactical than technical. That is what we are lacking. All four ODIs, out of the top six guys, almost everyone has taken a start. However, they couldn’t go on to get a big one,” the batting coach noted.
“It has gone beyond our control now. We have to make sure that we try and win the game tomorrow. That is the only way we can turn things around. The mood is not good at the moment in the camp. To be brutally honest, confidence level is really down, naturally so when you are 4-0 down. But I must say that the guys are trying hard. We have been trying to give them certain targets and hopefully we can achieve those targets,” he added.
