Former India batsman Sachin Tendulkar has come up with a compliment of the highest degree for his ex-teammate Mahendra Singh Dhoni after he became the first wicketkeeper to affect 100 stumpings in One-Day Internationals during the ongoing match against Sri Lanka in Colombo. In doing so, he went past legendary Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara’s mark of 99.
Sangakkara affected his 99 stumpings in 404 ODIs while Dhoni reached the century of stumpings in only his 301st match. The former India skipper achieved the incredible feat when he stumped Akila Dananjaya off the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal. The stumping was Dhoni’s 97th in Indian jersey while the other three came when he represented Asia XI in 2007.
Dhoni, who recently became only the sixth Indian player to reach the 300-game mark in ODIs, is garnering lavish praise from all the quarters for his incredible achievement and Sachin Tendulkar has also joined the bandwagon. The legendary batsman took to Twitter to congratulate the World Cup-winning skipper.
“Who said lightning doesn’t strike twice? Today it did for the 100th time! Well done, @msdhoni! Keep them coming 🙂 ⚡,” Tendulkar tweeted.

The 36-year-old had made a record in the last ODI too when he played an unbeaten knock of 49. By doing so, he went to the top of the list of most unbeaten innings in ODI’s. It was Dhoni’s 73rd unbeaten knock, and he left behind former South African all-rounder Shaun Pollock (72), Chaminda Vaas (72) of Sri Lanka and Michael Bevan (62) of Australia.
