Sachin Tendulkar has praised Team India for their all round performance to wrap the ODI series against Sri Lanka in a grand style.
The master also heaped praise on the efforts of Bhuvneswar Kumar and Virat Kohli who helped India cruise to the victory in the fifth and final ODI at Premadasa Stadium, Colombo by six wickets.
Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka was always in trouble after losing three wickets in the first ten overs. Angelo Mathews and Lahiru Thirimanne then stabilised the innings, as they put a 122-run partnership for the fourth wicket. The hosts then failed to capitalise in the final ten overs, as they were bowled out for just 238 in the 50th over.
Bhuvneswar Kumar was the stand out bowler for India, as he picked 5/42 in his quota. India, who was expected to chase the target quite easily lost openers with just 29 on board. Virat Kohli, along with Kedhar Jadhav had sealed the win for India. The India skipper also managed to bring up his 30th ODI hundred in the process.
Sachin’s tweet after the win read:
“What a finish to the series by #TeamIndia! Great performances by @imVkohli & @BhuviOfficial. Wrap it with a win on Wednesday”

The 44-year-old seemed pleased with the performances of the team, as India became the first team ever to whitewash an ODI series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.
India will now face Sri Lanka in the one-off T20I before heading back home to host Australia later this month. Virat Kohli & Co. can be happy with the way they have played throughout the tour after whitewashing the Islanders in both Test and ODI’s.
