Sri Lanka vs India 2017: Virat Kohli Goes Nostalgic, Poses with the Lucky Chair in Dambulla 1

Virat Kohli, who completed nine years in elite-level cricket on August 18, 2017 (Friday), is being rated among the world-class batter. Indeed, not for his debatable technique but for his batting class, as he has risen to the occasion from time-to-time owing to the top-notch performances with the bat.

Interestingly, the 28-year-old Kohli had posed for a photograph while being seated on the same chair on which he sat way back in 2008 when he made his international debut against Sri Lanka.

Before the commencement of the ODI series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Twitter handle was quick to post delighted Kohli’s picture which further received the acknowledgement from the die-hard fans.

“Few things never change – only the legend grows. #ThisDayThatYear In 2008, @imVkohli sat on this very chair during his debut game #SLvIND,” BCCI tweeted.

However, it’s not all about being the superstitions, but eventually as a part of an enticing memory or a moment one believes in – to share after going through a lot of hard work owing to the rigorous training following the achievements of desired results under the belt.

Since then there has been no looking back for Kohli, who has made things easier even in the alien conditions, particularly in the limited-overs cricket – to raise the bar of his game.

It’s pertinent to mention, the right-handed batsman, Kohli in his debut game (One-day International) registered 12 on board off 22 deliveries against the then Mahela Jayawardene-led Lions side, before being dismissed by fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara.

During the then five-match ODI series, Sri Lanka thrashed India in the series opener by eight wickets after chasing down the target of 147 runs in 34.5 overs which further saw the mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis bagging the Man of the Match award for claiming three wickets.

Becoming stronger and stronger after every game, Kohli has been a vital cog in the India line-up while sharing a great bond over the years, to revive his nine-year-old memories during the ongoing series in Sri Lanka on Friday.

Men in Blue are ready to play their first of the five-match game at Dambulla on Sunday (August 20), as Kohli has cherished the memory of being a debutant on the shores of Lankan Island.

After reaching to the Dambulla, the visitors have trained hard in nets with wicket-keeper batsman and former skipper MS Dhoni coming into the fold to nurse Kohli behind the scenes.

As Sri Lanka would face the stern Test against the visitors, Kohli would be eyeing to wrap up the series in convincing fashion to add another feather to his cap.

The middle-order batsman Kohli has an average of 54.86 in the 50-over format, as he has scored 8.257 runs in 181 innings of 189 matches.

This is how Twitter reacts after Kohli posed for a fresh photograph on a chair he sat on during his international debut in 2008 at Dambulla’s International stadium’s dressing room.
