There is something absolute serene about playing cricket in Sri Lanka. The island nation, situated at the bank of the enormous Indian Ocean, is home to some serene and enchanting natural beauty, which is bound to leave every visitor in awe of the Island. One such person was Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who heads the Indian outfit currently, for a full fledged tour of Sri Lanka.
With just a day remaining for the Test series to commence at the iconic Galle Stadium, Kohli posted an image on his Instagram account, depicting the mesmerising coastline of Galle. In his description of the picture, the batting genius mentioned that waking up to such a tranquil view every day wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
“If only I could wake up to this every morning!! #Blissful,” wrote the Indian skipper about the image.
Kohli’s relationship with the island nation goes back a really long way, having made his international debut here, way back in 2008. Since then, he has enjoyed numerous outings in Sri Lanka, and his first Test series win as captain came right here a couple of years ago.
Speaking about the side, spinner R. Ashwin reflected on the memories of that memorable tour of a couple of years ago.
“In 2015, we were sandwiched into the middle of a leadership takeover. Virat had just taken over in Australia and we came here having played one Test in Bangladesh. We had set ourselves a lot of goals for each other and I would say we have achieved them and come out with flying colours over the last couple of years as a group,” Ashwin said.
